Consent for therapy
What you agree to when you book a session with Nimisha Shrivastava. Please read it before your first session, and ask me about anything that is unclear. Last updated 16 October 2026.
What therapy involves
Therapy is work we do together. I will ask questions, listen, and suggest ways of looking at what is happening; you decide how much to share and what we focus on. I cannot promise a particular result, and sometimes things feel harder for a while before they feel easier. You can ask me about my approach at any point.
Confidentiality, and its limits
What you tell me stays between us. The exceptions are narrow: if I believe there is a serious risk to your life or someone else’s, if a child or a vulnerable person is at risk of harm, or if a court orders me to share information. Where I can, I will talk to you before anything is shared. I may discuss my work in clinical supervision without your name or anything that identifies you.
Records
I keep brief notes of our sessions. They are stored encrypted and read only by me. You can ask what I hold about you, as described in the privacy policy.
Online sessions and calls
Online sessions use a secure video link. Please join from a private place where you will not be overheard. Sessions are not recorded, by me or by you. If the connection fails, the session is rescheduled rather than charged.
Fees, payment and cancellations
A booking is confirmed when the fee is paid. A booking is held for 4 hours after it is made; if it is still unpaid then, it is released. You can cancel or move a session up to 24 hours before it starts; what you paid then becomes session credit in your account, without deduction, for any future session. Within 24 hours a session can no longer be cancelled or moved, and its fee is kept. Fees are not refunded to a bank account automatically; I may do so if I cancel a session or a refund is otherwise right.
Under 18
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian also needs to agree to therapy, and I will speak with them before we begin. What you share in sessions is still treated as confidential, within the limits above.
Not an emergency service
If you’re in crisis or in immediate danger, please call Tele-MANAS on 14416 (free, 24 hours) or emergency services on 112.
Your choice
You can stop therapy at any time, and you can ask me for a referral to someone else whenever you like. If I think another professional would help, I will tell you.
